There is some good here. Bernthal is always awesome, and the relationship between Sarah Jo and her family is endearing. The affair with Bernthal was the most compelling part of the movie, then it ends and goes off on some sexual adventure stuff... and I dunno what it is, but I just kinda didn't care. Sarah Jo is a likeable character, and yet I just waited for her escapades to be over. I don't blame Froseth, she was lovely, but the script is neither funny or dramatic. Very sloppy, shallow, messy.

While the film has its heart in the right place and explores sexuality with sensitivity, its poor pacing, disjointed narrative, and clumsy handling of Sarah Jo's character detract from its overall impact. Nonetheless, the film is worth watching for Kristine Froseth's endearing performance and Lena Dunham's insightful investigation of sexual exploration.
