Jimmy Stewart is always excellent. Parts of the script work, and parts do not. Mostly I just didn't enjoy Simone Simon's character all that much.

The sound remake of one of the most beloved romance films of the silent era. They didn't change much. All that's new is that it's got dialogue and that transition was done well. This one has got James Stewart in the Farrell part! And that's not a bad thing! Hes he strong part of the sound version. Stewart bring the life needed for a talkie version. As for Simone Simon in the Gaynor role. That's this movie's clear weakness. Her lack of English skills makes it painful to listen to her.
