Niven (who won the Best Actor statuette for being onscreen for about a minute less than Hopkins is in 'The Silence of the Lambs') is good. Kerr overacts. And Hayworth is still gorgeous at 40.

I didn't know anything about this movie, so I had no expectations other than it should have good performances. Well, two best actor Oscars came out of it. Great plot and acting. My only very minor criticism was that it felt like a play, which is was adapted from, so not much to do about that.

Great script and acting make "Separate Tables" a drama where you care about what happens to the characters.

The acting is good, but not amazing. Don't know if this should have won two acting oscars, but it's a decent film. The plot really isn't much more than interactions between several people in a hotel.

Well acted and written, but the melodrama is very thick.

This psychological ensemble melodrama does not transfer as smoothly to the screen as do the best plays-to-screenplays by Terence Rattigan. Also, it's hard to tell whether the Lancaster/Hayworth subplot is ineffectively written or if it's just their acting that spoils it; Hayworth is wooden and Lancaster is horrid as always. They have nothing on any of the British actors: Niven, more so Hiller, and most especially Kerr, who gives a marvelous performance.
