Thin Rebel Wilson is ghoulish, looks like a cenobite. It's okay to say that because shes a terrible person! This is fine whatever filled with all the 90s music I didnt listen to at the time but thirst for now clinging to my youth screaming.

Well certainly good on Rebel Wilson for losing all that weight. The hook for the movie is kinda funny and a fresh angle but a lot of it is kinda by the numbers - prom scene, party scene, choreographed dance routine, graduation, haha teens are woke now (also a fresh take ten years ago in 21 Jump Street, now a cliche itself) etc…

Finally, films are pandering to my early-2000s nostalgia. Feels like there was a lot lost in editing, with some uneven pacing, unexplained plot jumps/relationships (heartfelt talk with the principal revealing she's gay and then Wilson goes back to being inconsiderate?). Is Mary Holland contractually required to play a lesbian for Netflix? I want to believe kids are more accepting now. Fav scene: I'll bump this film up a point since the final dance scene really brought a giant smile to my face.

I'm not a big fan of movies where everyone is an asshole. Rebel Wilson is much more grating and foul than actors who have similarly portrayed child characters that have magically or otherwise transformed into adults (Tom Hanks, Jennifer Garner, Zachary Levi and Robin Williams). Wilson's character is missing the charming naivety and light-heartedness.

some parts are like, brainless-haha moments, but a lot is hard to watch. The strawman-parts mocking modern kids get old before they tame it down. It's however not as bad as I thought. Still not the best

I enjoyed the premise initially and I think it could have been good with a lot of adjustments, but as it is the tone of the movie is annoying and it needed a better lead actress.

Was the script improvised during filming?

I liked this the first time I saw it...when it was called 13 Going On 30! That school looks like a dystopian nightmare. Burn it all to the ground.

I expected to dislike this movie far more than I did. Rebel Wilson is a perfect fit for this role and dominates her screen time with a supporting cast that depicts a more grounded high school environment than we are otherwise acquainted to seeing in film. The plot mostly fits a comfortable expectation and the film generally just reeks of joy.

The hook has potential, but everything else is half-baked, lazy and it ends up being a wasted premise.

Tbh, this is one of the better rom-coms from Netflix
