Seems Like Old Times

Chevy Chase was never really that funny. Neither was Neil Simon. Or Goldie Hawn. So, allow me to be the first to comment on this movie: it's in color. Yay.

Viewed August 11, 2020. Much more successful than Chevy and Goldie in Foul Play, this hodgepodge of screwball plots and jokes is charming all the way through, especially the well-executed farce of the film's climactic sequence.

Quite entertaining early 80's comedy; Hawn is likable as always and Chase is his laid-back self; it's almost like a test run for this Fletch role, but this one is more screwball and not trying to achieve any kind of realism. Grodin is playing the straight role which funnily has shades of his later Beethoven role. Some parts are outdated: Hawn's clients seem to consist of only Indians, Latinos or African American and the house and staff seem quite much for a public defender and a prosecutor.
