Whenever I see a movie with dissociative identity disorder as an important plot device I think of that ridiculous movie Charlie Kaufman's brother writes in Adapatation where all the main characters turn out to be the same person, and there's absolutely no way I can take the premise seriously anymore. Secret Window has a few creepy moments, but it's largely a waste of time, money and a perfectly good Johnny Depp.

It's either a window into his soul as a deeply profound glimpse into the nature of a broken man, a moralistic play as a window of opportunity for him to make the right choices in response to his divorce, or a window on his house because the movie is pretty stupid.

Johnny Depp is very entertaining to watch, from the start he pulled me in this fictional world. Particularly the first half of this film was quite interesting and thrilling, but at some point I guessed the twist ending which ruined it a little bit for me, though the film still remained entertaining to watch. The atmosphere is good, as is the setting and acting. Overall a nice thriller though I would've liked to see a different twist or no twist at all. The ending shot was a nice touch though.

I call this movie a “Grower” For a lot of years I would tell you this wasn’t my favorite King adaptation But everytime I watch it I pick up on some new detail or something I never noticed before I love Depp in this role I love his dark humor and practically every word he says drips with sarcasm I also liked John Turturro as well he was great

One of the most entertaining "lesser" King adaptations is not particularly scary, with a twist you can see from a mile away, but is great fun thanks to distinguished individual elements; Depp and Turturro are beautifully matched antagonists, with both bringing their 'A' game (has Turturro ever played genuinely menacing before?) Koepp's roving camera amps up the tension, and a fine supporting cast breathe life and humour into their archetypes. No world-beater, but consistently enjoyable.

In typical Stephen King film adaptation fashion, Secret Window presents a well written psychological thriller that unfortunately concludes in an underwhelming third act that plays more hokey than true. Johnny Depp and John Tuturo give fantastic performances to carry the first two acts.

Secret Window definitely isn't awful. It's not great either though. It's just an average movie that will most likely be forgotten. The ending is farily predictable, but the build up to the end was alright. Johnny Depp and John Turturro were both good in the film. I would say it's worth watching if it comes on TV, but not worth buying.

Depp is good in the lead, as per usual (a great bit where he strangles the phone while talking to his wife always jumps out at me when I think of this movie). The movie itself? Not so much. Beyond his performance, the rest of it is unintentionally hysterical, with an inconcievably absurd and contrived cliche of an ending. "Yoostolemahstoreh."

SPOILER ALERT: In an effort to rewrite the ending, which was way more likely, the Sherriff ordered Raineys newly dug vegetable patch to be excavated, and, following car tracks in the mud, dredged the quarry and found the cars of his wife, her boyfriend, and the neighbour. Rainey was charged with murder, lost the appeal and was gassed. If Shephen King wants some help with his endings, he only needs to ask me!! Enjoyable though, and Depp proved that when he is "normal" he can hold an audience.

For a Hollywood product, it had some very nice camera works at times. The intro in just 4 shots is pretty good. So, sure there are plot holes, product placements, the camera is always on Depp's face and it all becomes fairly predictable after 45 (?) minutes but, to be fair, it worked for me as shallow entertainment.

It plays like a pretty average Stephen King hodgepodge. I saw frequent echoes of other stories like Misery (author being coerced into writing a particular story) and The Shining (character losing his mind in an isolated location and writing a repeated phrase). Nothing awful, nothing amazing.

A very odd thriller-turned-horror flick. The acting and screenplay are laughably bad at certain points but the creepy slasher ending (as predictable and easy as it is) seems, upon reflection, to justify those moments as intentionally weird (like a cheesy horror movie) and not unintentionally bad. The film starts off bland, underwhelming, and even painful to watch at times, but it builds into something delightfully odd and unnerving and so leaves a surprisingly good impression in the end.

I really like most of Koepp scripts, but this film is really one of the dumbest, most dated films of the noughties. Secret Window at least deserves some credit for its extensive, almost banal, use of tracking shots to deliver suspense -- but they look empty when you notice how little they add to the picture.

Secret Window is sort of an odd duck. It's suspenseful a handful of times, divorce drama most of the time, and given a fairly predictable ending that sucks balls. Depp is what makes it so watchable. I enjoyed his naturalism. And hair. And glasses. Hmm. Yeah. Yeah, that ending sucked balls.

If you can get past the second act of Secret Window, the last 20 minutes or so will be quite a thrill ride. The characters are interesting, but the ending is an incredible disappointment. It's watchable, and it can give some entertainment, but there are definitely better thrillers out there. Depp is a good actor giving his character lots of life, and the final plot twist is a good one, so if that is all you need in a thriller, then go ahead and watch Secret Window. You might be glad you did.
