Second Fiddle (1939) might lack the big ice numbers, but for me this was Sonja Henie's best one yet. Again she's teamed with Tyrone Power, a publicity agent secretly creating a fake romance between her and Rudy Vallee. Pure popcorn romance where even hammy Vallee was bearable being limited to what he does best. Sing. Power being the true professional keeps this on course, with lovely comic relief from Edna May Oliver! And it all blends well.
