Solid performances by J-Lo and Hudgens, as well as the supporting cast all around, don't make up for a messy by-the-book plot full of cliches and tropes with too few original moments to balance things out. The narrative never earns the emotional impact it wants to have, and very lazy writing bog it down quite a bit. It does have its moments, and it's perfectly watchable, but it's also extremely forgettable and could have been much better.

As generic as they come. Could also have been a lot worse.

There is absolutely no reason for this movie to exist. The plot with all of its ridiculously unlikely events would have worked great in a telenovela production, but playing the script out straight as a drama-tearjerker made it feel boring with just enough saccharine to make it cringy.

Second Act just passes the bar of being watchable thanks to no shortage of charm from Lopez and Hudgens. The film itself never ventures far from mildly amusing, using its leads to repeatedly attempt tear-jerking scenes in an attempt to compensate for a woeful script made up of contrivances, cringe-worthiness and predictability. The direction isn't much better with generic music and transition scenes, leaving a film devoid of identity.

Lightweight, feel good and funny comedy, it is better than most of today's comedy movies. It is nice to watch Jennifer delivering a strong woman character very well, and also she has incredible chemistry with Leah Remini which made every scene with both of them a delight, other parts of the movie where so-so, but overall it is a satisfying movie.

Not bad, but still not quite good. The lead characters felt real and I liked them, but the story doesn't deliver enough for it to be satisfying. The supporting cast leaned a little heavy on the comedic side so fell short of supporting the heartfelt side of the movie.

The good news is that it's not as terrible as the trailer made it out to be, but the bad news is that it's completely forgettable. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for what it is and there are some fun moments, but it's so predictable, it's almost painful. It feels very much like any other J-Lo film, and the emotional moments are handled well, but it's just nothing new to be able to really push this anywhere beyond "okay".

It was a light typical good hearted movie. The movie was led by Jennifer Lopez & Vanessa Hudgens who played superbly. I recommend giving the movie a watch.
