The dread starts to creep not even 10 minutes in: Oh no, they don't provide any consequential motivation for Seberg getting herself into The Shit (The Plot). The uninspired direction adds a stink, while the good acting rubs our noses in it. By the end after you get used to the smell you're telling yourself, Yeah, the government's gonna surveil - sucks, right? And that's really not the note you want to end a series of real-life tragedies on.

the thing is Hollywood does it well: it cheapens politics, it commodifies it with boobs and looks.

She's good, the story is sad, the film is a bit dull.

Stewart's legitimately a great actress. and Seberg's story is worth telling. but this is the very definition of a lazy, by-the-numbers, through-the-motions biopic. you'll learn nothing from it.
