Sea Devils

Em honra do centenário de Yvonne De Carlo. É tão engraçado entrar no Letterboxd e todas as resenhas se referirem ao Rock Hudson sem camisa e amarrado, mas perde a graça quando nos damos conta que isso é mesmo a melhor coisa do filme. Rá! DVDRip no MakingOff.

Dull, listless and tired swashbuckler gets any energy it has from Hudson, though he is given precious little to work with, especially De Carlo's bland romantic lead. Some nice cinematography, but it's all a bit of a snooze overall.

An entertaining swashbuckler about smugglers and spies during the Napoleonic wars. It's standard fare, highlighting Hudson's bare chest and De Carlo's heaving bosom, but the Borden Chase screenplay doesn't insult your intelligence and Raoul Walsh directs with flare and a boy's eye for fun. Notable appearances: 78 year old Arthur Wontner (an early Sherlock Holmes) as the Baron and soon-to-be director Bryan Forbes as Hudson's sidekick Willie. Worth a look, provided you like the genre.
