I really don't find the need to justify my reasons for not liking this film. I don't think anything could have annoyed me as much as the stupid dog's voice, but seeing that horribly contrived live action version of him riding an ATV and partaking in a farting contest totally proved me wrong. Seeing this worthless cast stumble through the inane dialogue was right up there, too. Whoever thought this could translate well to live action was smoking too much of whatever Shaggy's on.

I was being dumb before. I completely misjudged this movie. It’s a great adaptation. I don’t love the celebrity side of the gang, and Scrappy is an annoying character. Perhaps the turmoil amongst the gang could have been fleshed out more too. BUT, it’s so damn funny, absurd, and way better than I remember it being. The casting is perfect all around, the production and location is really cool, and at the end of the day, it’s a Scooby-Doo story, through-and-through. Watch it for the camp and cast.

Scooby and Shaggy have a fart off. Ebert wrote 3 paragraphs about this film, and half of one is spent comparing this film to Russ Meyer's work. I am glad Ebert never changed.

Aside from Lillard's creditable Casey Kasem impersonation, this is an experience roughly akin to stepping in a Great Dane's turd; funny for about a second, then just unpleasant and annoying. If you hadn't seen the TV show, this probably wouldn't be worth seeing at all. The children thought it was dull. I don't remember all the scantily-clad teens in the cartoon...

Continues the early '00s trend of Hanna-Barbera self-parody started with Harvey Birdman and Space Ghost. It's very campy, but it's completely self-aware of it's campiness and just 100% rolls into it. Matthew Lillard as Shaggy is perfect casting. Crazy Fact: The first cut of this movie was rated R by the MPAA and featured a kiss between Daphne and Velma. Screw the Snyder Cut, #ReleaseTheGosnellCut

I avoided this like the plague when it was released in 2002 because I was 17 at the time and seeing this would have been very uncool. But watching it now makes for a most enjoyable nostalgia trip for me, it's got everything someone my age needs to reconnect with their youth; Sarah Michelle Geller, Freddie Prinze Jnr., Isla Fisher's Hollywood debut, Sugar Ray (including a possessed Mark McGrath) and much more. Even the crappiness of the CGI is endearing.

Dumb villain. Gang looks well-cast except for Fred (remember when Freddie Prinze Jr. was A-list?). Isla Fisher looked a lot different. Very watchable if you're a Scooby-Doo fan. Very nonsensical if you're not familiar/accepting of the tropes. I didn't notice the explanation for why Velma changed into a low cut top. Fav scene: the intro with classic Scooby-Doo hijinks.

Realistically, this should be lower, but nostalgia hits me more than anything when it comes to film. Because of that, I say it's below average-to-passable as a film, but I still get a few chuckles here and there from these movies and are we really gonna pretend that Lillard isn't a perfect Shaggy? He works so well for the Scooby and Shaggy chemistry and that itself entertains me. Everything else in this is pretty horrible, but it was a interesting revisiting of the franchise.

The talents behind James Gunn's script and Mathew Lillard's flawless casting as Shaggy are unfortunately let down by shoddy direction from Raja Gosnell. The point of the franchise is entirely missed and Rowan Atkinson is horribly wasted. Aside from a few laughs to be had, Scooby-Doo is a tough sell.

One of the worst things I have ever laid my eyes on. I can imagine the actors going to their bed after a day of shooting this movie, questioning their lives as artists, thinking where everything went wrong... It felt like Atkinson said to them "Even though youa re paying me millions, you cannot show me more than 5 minutes in this mess; no sir, no way" Avoid like the plague; meditate instead.

I wasn't expecting much and would have been happy with a routine Scooby mystery, but sadly this is just bad. I doubt the CGI ever looked good, but it has aged horribly. The story is one big mess and the jokes do not land. It's puzzling that it was written by James Gunn. I'm struggling to find anything positive, but at least the casting was quite good - basically late 90's/early 00's teen TV/film all-stars. It's only 80mins+ long but it still manages to wear you out.

This movie actually held up on re-watch for me. Bite me. Back then this was a surprise hit that targeted teens and tweens with a weird sort of nostalgia appeal (who on earth is actually die-hard Scooby Doo fan though?), but managed to win over the crowds with their non-stop trope subversion, not taking itself seriously at all, and the sneaky 'mature' jokes. Yeah the CGI-action was a bit cringe-worthy. Didn't stop me from enjoying this.

Noisy and incoherent adaptation (perhaps a result of cuts made from the tantalising idea of an R-rated cut) is enjoyable enough on its own terms; uniformly fine and convincing casting choices across the board helps, though Atkinson seems like an odd (and underutilised) choice as the villain. A diverting distraction in the moment, but basically forgettable.

It's so stupid. Irredeemably, unbelievably stupid. It's one of the most aggressively 2000's movies ever made, features terribly dated humor, some that wasn't even funny in 2002, and is so all over the place tonally that it's hard to figure out whether the self-aware undertones are intentional or not. Beyond Lillard's brilliant turn as Shaggy, the acting is nothing special. The effects are horrendous, & the plot makes no sense. But, I grew up with this pile of garbage & dammit I still love it.

The Scooby-Doo live-action movie is a failure. It's too long and too slow-paced to maintain the manic energy that came through in the TV show, and if you aren't already a pretty big Scooby-Doo fan, you're not going to get a lot of the jokes or references. It's a mediocre mystery movie with a stupid plot twist at the end that is far too slow-paced and humorless to keep the attention of anyone who isn't enamored with the brand going in. It won't win any new fans and it doesn't do anything well.

Gather 'round for a tale of time forgotten. It was the best of times; or, maybe the worst. The end of the heady turn-of-the-century/late '90s-to-early'00s/pre-9/11 era. Some did even call it the Millennium. Pepsi Blue existed. The Baha Men, ska, and Vengaboys ruled the airwaves. Jackass was on TV. Mr. Bean tried to come to the U.S. Owen Wilson dated Sheryl Crow (to be a surfer?) Bad CGI was everywhere. Truly, they were as Gods. I can still smell this movie. And that summer.

This is a true definition of junk cinema, but I have seen far, far worse than this. The film has two merits to it which help make it enjoyable. The first is that Matthew Lillard is Shaggy, one of the only times an animated character has been brought to screen with complete accuracy. The second is the script by James Gunn which includes some wit to the generic story. He even manages to slip in pot references; how do you explain why the main love interest for Shaggy is called Mary Jane?
