Deserves every single piece of praise it receives. Neeson, Fiennes and Kingsley are all absolutely amazing. I don't believe any of them steal the show but rather compliment each others' performances perfectly. This is most certainly one of the hardest films to watch due to how real it feels, more than once I simply couldn't bare to watch the sheer cruelty towards the Jews. Brilliant film making and, in my opinion, Spielberg's best.

Schindler's List is probably the greatest depiction of the holocaust ever. This film is everything everybody cracks it up to be. Liam Neeson in his greatest performance, but Ralph Fiennes steals the show with an absolutely mindblowing performance as the insane, and maniacal Amon Goth. This film always kept me in a state of shock. Kaminski makes full use of his camera and creates a beautiful looking picture in stark black and white. A very saddening film with great performances and direction.

A powerful, haunting, and important movie, although I'm not sure I'll ever have the emotional strength to watch it again. I mean, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are terrific, but it's just not that common that I'm hanging out with friends and like, "Oh man. You know what would really hit the spot right now? Some SCHINDLER'S LIST. Fuck yeah, play that shit, son!"

many are they who find offense in the existence of others, who, on a delightful whim, will find occasion to log on to a website named "criticker", type a small number into a box labelled "your rating", and then press the "submit" button beneath it. this, of course, is nothing in and of itself, but the real chagrin comes when they discover that, avast! these others had not seen the corresponding film! in response, i am delighted to announce that i, too, shall engage in this reckless provocation.

The movie is completely black and white, and I'm not talking simply about the lack of visual colour. In Spielberg's typical fashion, the badguys are unmitigatedly evil, and the goodguys noble, clever and enduring beyond belief. This kind of "You're with us or you're Satan"-thinking is as reprehensible as it is dangerous. Moralising becomes devoid of reality; the issue isn't that German camp commanders were demons, the problem is that normal people commited atrocities in those circumstances.

Schindler's List's moments of brilliance are almost completely ruined by some horribly manipulative, melodramatic and overly theatrical filmmaking. There is no denying at times this film is totally brilliant in its harrowing, shocking and deeply moving depicition of the Holocaust. However Speilberg tried too hard to push the message across when he has no need to do so, as the actors and the characters they portray, do it so well for him. A sadly flawed and therefore overrated movie.

(youtube.com/watch?v=CZ1GE88NOxU) The horror felt when [link] happened, when the lights went out, and when the true value of the golden ring is learned make it hard to imagine some criticize it for being too mild. This isn't a happy story about those on Schindler's list. It is about the golden ring for all those that weren't. Yes, it didn't fully encompass the Holocaust, but I'm not sure if it ever attempted to.

A whole bunch of modern cliches and caricatures shoehorned into Nazi Germany results in a Holocaust with a happy ending. As usual, the Nazis are depicted as monsters that look like humans instead of humans who committed monstrous crimes. For refusing the notion that anything can be learned from the Holocaust, people like Steven Spielperg are indirectly responsible for the genocides of today and tomorrow.

At times, especially the opening 30 minutes, I didn't think I'd be able to make it through what promised to be a 4-hour slog. But then came the liquidation of the ghettos, and if you're not emotionally galvanized by these vividly portrayed scenes of butchery, maybe it's time to buy a soul. I can report, without shame, that I teared up like a schoolgirl with a skinned knee during the film's final coda. Fantastic job by Spielberg, Neeson and Fiennes, who steals the show as a vile Nazi commander.

This movie really infuriates me. It employs a haunting docudrama approach and features some career-high performances by Kingsley and Neeson, but its overall effectiveness is nullified by the desire to find the positive human spirit amidst the horror. Despite all the awards of this movie, my personal distaste for the very plot is too big. Watching helpless people waiting in fear to be taken away and murdered today - or tomorrow - or the day after tomorrow - or-I-don't-know-when (a penny's worth of fabula, a pound's worth of suspense!) without (this is very important!) not being able to make a sh*t about it... Dark pages of WWII shouldn't be forgotten - but it doesn't mean we must savour them. And yes - Jewish suffering is cliche.

Pretty dishonest, or at least misguided take on the holocaust. By focusing on the few hundred that were saved while ignoring the six million that were not Spielberg completely misrespresents the holocaust, while simultaneously demanding we accept this as the definitive holocaust film. It's often very heavy-handed; from the red little girl to the 'I could have saved more!' speech, drama usually trumps authenticity in key scenes, and don't even get me started on the conceit of the epilogue.

One of Spielberg's few flaws, is his failure to flesh out characters. It's problematic in 'Munich', drowned by explosions in 'Saving Private Ryan' and unbearable in 'A.I.'. When acceptable here, it's thanks to how mind bogglingly well he directs suspenseful scenes, effortlessly switching mood and tone. It's pure movie master class, until Liam Neeson - the human equivalent of a tax return - takes the center stage. Then it's strangely detached cinema. Disagree? That's okay: I.. I forgive you.

This film is slyly manipulative. At first it may be affecting with the cinematography, the bittersweet violin chords and the dramatic plot, until you realize Spielberg's cheap, theatrical use of the by now overused Holocaust theme to force a sniveling reaction from the audience, the characters being as B&W as the visuals and the film eventually becoming a sentimentalist piece of hogwash for the masses. Typical Hollywood technique. It tries to be brutal, but it's really only ever sensationalized.
