When this low-budget two-hander works, it really works, and it's undeniably a worthwhile trip. It's indeed a solid, impressively performed character-driven thriller that is more poignant than expected.

Worthwhile for its ending that plays with our expectations for both life and cinema

It's hard not to watch a movie like this and think, "why the fuck would they do that!?" Then I remember people watch Honey Boo Boo and supersize their BIG ASS FRIES.

What a great movie. Engaging until the last second.

Sort-of-spoiler: I don't know if this is ultimately a critique as such of the combined boysiness and self-improvement-through-suffering of 'Fight Club' and the like, but it is at least a refusal of simple endorsement and recapitulation of those tiresome narratives with which the US culture industry is close to saturated, for some reason. That is not nothing; interrogating the reason might have been more. Dan Fogler seems pretty talented.

I'm a sucker for this kind of film, so I may be overrating. But I really enjoyed the writing, the acting, the atmosphere, everything.

An okay movie that could've been good with a little fine-tuning. Saw the ending coming a mile off, but really, how else could it end?

Decent film overall with an interesting ending. First world problems with 3rd world solutions.

For only seeing a trailer once a long time ago, seeing this on netflix, vaguely remembering it and turning it on because why not? This was a really really good movie. It satisfied everything I was looking for in a movie that night. The beginning sets the tone and it flies from there. At no point did I feel bored with the movie, it was thoroughly entertaining and I would watch it again. The dialogue was believable and the two worked off eachother, they had to for this to work. Crazy good.

The tease of the opening flash-forward scene is, by far, the best thing about Scenic Route. Sticking two characters in a lonely, perilous situation would have been much more intriguing if they actually had some real problems to sort out. In the end, the failure of either character to reach beyond their poorly-written stereotypes gives the film little to say.

Movies like this depend on the level of writing, directing and acting involved. Just below where it needs to be on all levels. I cannot say the idea isn't interesting, the performances terrible or the production shoddy, it just isn't good enough.

This movie is great. Two friends. Car breaks down. They are stuck in the middle of the desert and they have some major issues to work out. I love films where there is a small set of characters with a problem and the setting hardly ever changes. It reminds me a lot of an intimate theatrical stage production. Duhamel and Dan Fogler were perfect. I loved all the crazy antics and the tense moments and even the sweet moments. I'm not sure I loved the ending, but it does work. I just wish it didn't.

May actually rate it higher on a 2nd viewing (got distracted for part of the middle of the flick when the crazy shenanigans were going on)

If you're a fan of films that take place in one environment which are character driven, this is the film for you! Thoroughly enjoyable. A pleasant surprise.

WOW! This is a class example of that you don't need to spend millions of dollars to make a good movie. Story was awsome. The really weird part is that i told my girfriend from the very beginning EXACTLY what would happen. Everything was spot on. Maybe it was predictable or maybe I just got a talent for it i don't know but it doesn't matter the movie was great! The acting was brilliant. Great dialogue! Ending was as i expected :)
