Scarlet Days

After meandering through nearly an hour of cutesy character bits and mildly delivered melodramatic twists, a solid twenty minutes or so of the frantic ride-to-the-rescue action Griffith made famous, with plenty of cast, cuts, and commotion. Carol Dempster attempts to channel Gish or Pickford, as she did in several of Griffith's lesser-known later features, though Clarine Seymour made the poster in a role calling for a bit more of the impish side of the Griffith lead spectrum.
