Scarlet Angel

Rock Hudson's first lead role is opposite the adventure queen Yvonne De Carlo in a remake of Marlene Dietrich's The Flame of New Orleans (1941). And he and De Carlo have some good exchanges. Absolutely the life of the movie. Sadly, a lot of it is just De Carlo posing as the mother of a baby, and that portion never gets very interesting unless Hudson is visiting. But at least it showed Hudson could be relied on for much bigger parts than what they'd given him so far.
