A modern indie horror rendition of an anthology movie by way of old fashioned campfire horror stories. Believe it or not, this is about as fresh an idea as I've seen for the format in a long time. With a bit of imagination, horror movies need not be hindered by things such as budgets.

A horror anthology that never fully leaves its framing story. It's creative and well-done and all, but....framing stories fucking suck.

There's no horror in here really, but I laughed quite a bit.

This started and gave me the sinking feeling that I was about to watch something akin to two theater nerds riff off of each other. And it basically is that but better. Aya Cash, in particular does a great job of being a fairly unlikable character but also someone you want to watch. Love to see Chris Redd show up in things. Talk about some great sound design.

Lots of fun and I love Aya Cash.

Here's the thing ... none of the stories they tell are close to good. The gimmick is that they act them out, and their acting is extremely broad, scenery chewing comedy. I dislike them and I dislike their stories and that's all there is here. (Well, Chris Redd drops in as a pizza delivery guy and joins in, but everything I have already said applies to him too.)

A fresh concept is always welcome, but the lulls in the second act set it back, and the ending doesn't land.

Starts off strong. Nicely shot, the characters have good chemistry, and I got some light chuckles. Where it falls flat is that it doesn't move on from being a sort of lighthearted semi-anthology horror. Had stories been told and directed with less cringe and cliché, this could have been something special. But the problem is that it sticks to its tonal guns for all but the last 15 minutes, in which what could have been a nice twist halfway through ends up as an afterthought.

One of the better of the scuffed indie horror movie theme.
