This is what I want from a Scanner sequel. Scanners are losing their minds if they don't take a suppressant but they're also being turned into assassins by Richard Lynch to kill plain clothes cops. Lynch has no trouble kidnapping and programming about ten people including cops but he never thinks to use the same methods to just kill the ones he's upset with. Either way, we all benefit as facial straining couldn't possibly go more overboard (spoiler alert for Scanner Cop II review, it can).

A decent genre film, even if half of that is Cronenberg's original concept which allows for some interesting visual ideas to pervade the industry standard filmmaking. It's a little worrying that a critique is offered which pits the state against an insidious drug-addled pop-psych spiritualism (ie: that disaster of a 1970's), while still buying into the faith v. reason dichotomy; faith, of course, takes the upper hand. Maybe that's nitpicky. I am watching Scanner Cop after all. Ending is shitty.

This was really low budget and not in a good way. The worst part of this movie was the fact that the whole "scanner" aspect was unnecessary to the plot.
