Saving Face

The subject matter is truly shocking and saddening. But having heard about the film before hand, including some general details about how events transpire (from an NPR interview), watching the film was an underwhelming experience for me. I think most of the impact on me came before even watching the film. It's a good documentary about a devastating subject, don't get me wrong. But it felt almost, I don't know, shallow? It needed more of an emotional punch beyond merely its premise.
