Saturday the 14th

Probably the second worst thing Jeffrey Tambor has done on a film set.

There were a few moments that were so silly they transcended comedy itself and became something funny for reasons that no rational mind could quantify. Buuuuuuut, those moments are surrounded by some pretty rough comedy attempts and most everything falls a bit flat. Full disclosure: this was the 13th of a 14 movie marathon so maybe it isn't surreal at all and I just hallucinated the wacky moments.

Although a disappointingly dull, "old school"-haunted house/"classic" horror/comedy spoof B-movie, this 80's "New World Pictures", Julie Corman production, has a few bits of fun for fans of dumb comedy. However, most of the movie just repeatedly lacks the needed extra charm or direction to make the "so-stupid-it's-funny" stream of dumb jokes really work. Only for fans of 80's low-rent comedy/horror cheese slogs.

About as funny as the title would lead you to believe.

Few funny jokes, The owl running gag was one of the few, and the father thinking everything was fine. Otherwise it was slow and not really fun. Most monsters were overstaying their welcome. The treatment of the teenager (?) girl was weird

A few mildly interesting moments (they live on Elm Street) & Jeffrey Tambor aside, this was just as entirely mediocre as I'd always feared it would be & I'm disappointed by how forgettable every single thing about it is. Was this funny to anybody in the early 80's? Was this flat, lifeless style of parody considered comedy back then? Some moments gave me Student Bodies vibes in the worst way. Credit to the cast for at least trying, though. Still, I'm not going to remember this in like a week.

Okay, that was stupid and not always in a good way.

Awful

Cheap, tacky horror-comedy, not really a spoof as the title would suggest, and completely unrelated to the FRIDAY THE 13TH series. Benjamin and Prentiss' considerable comic talents are squandered on the heavy handed slapstick in the Mel Brooks vein; Tambor manages a few chuckles, especially with his Transylvanian accent. Hampered further by the *very* cheap costume design of the ghouls inside the house.

The jokes fall so flat it often makes you wonder whether or not they were meant to be jokes

It's an odd sorta comedy.

Lampooning the Friday the 13th series should be easy, but like Scary Movies and all the others today, you still have to be talented to actually make a good movie.

Despite the punning title, this isn't a spoof of slasher movies but an old-fashioned haunted house comedy. Too silly for words, but a good comic cast and funny gags put this squarely in the "So dumb it's fun" category.

this is really one of the stupidest comedies ever filmed. Not funny in the slightest.

NEVER watch drunk...

A fair enough parody film that just never seemed to get its due. It would have fared better were it not made so early in the 80's...there would have been a whole lot more material to work with five years later.
