Sasquatch Sunset

Mostly painfully unfunny, though it hits a couple times. Weird tonal shifts from absurd to gross that don't feel earned. Usually boring. Some shots linger way too long. It is definitely a pretty movie and I imagine that shooting it was a lot of fun because the actors got to dress up and just grunt, but that silliness doesn't come across here even when it's trying. Kind of works as a drama but "kind of" is a damning compliment in this case. Too long. Could have worked as a short film.

For some reason, I dig this quite a bit. A year in the life of a sasquatch. Real circle of life type stuff. Equal parts absurd, adorable, and gross. I shamelessly got a few really big laughs. Is this the best eye acting in cinema history? Every scene is a blank canvas, and most of it works.

Riley Keough went so fucking hard in this movie honestly, overall it was an interesting mix of real good thoughtful parts about humanity’s effect on nature and more uneven parts about primal behaviour but fucking HELL her performance is so good at all times whether she’s having an emotional reaction to Erasure or yeeting her piss/shit/breast milk onto a road. Weird movie tbh but I liked it overall I think!

A very unique, well-shot comedy that is intentionally gross and troll-like Requires a lot of patience, as sasquatch characters only grunt with no dialogue - not for everyone, but succeeds as an odd comedy despite the filmmaker's intentions. score: 6/10 or 12/20
