Great naval fiction with solid references to modern-Turkey and classic naval literature -which were harmonized nearly flawless-

So according to the plot the movie starts when just half an hour is left. If you are looking for a Thriller you will be disappointed. I liked it, but I do not understand the hype here in Criticker. A 55/100 for a movie that I intend to fully see, but had I an emergency or fall asleep I would not have bother to stop watching.

Thrilling, tense atmospheric yet simple thriller that's full of allegory I need to know more about Turkey to really understand.

Paranoia ship! A frustrating and bizarre wait as tensions boil-up to unbearable levels. The six very different boatmen getting on each other nerve creates a touchable nerve. One can question the choice of ending, but I felt it worked alright as by that point it's very clear all the crew members have had enough.

Great setting and cast make for many beautiful scenes. But while every scene works great in itself, the development from one to the next feels a bit bumpy at times. Also don't think the CGI was necessary for an otherwise very realistic movie.

Türk filmi olduğu için insanlar abartıyor diye düşünüyordum izleyene kadar. Yanılmışım. Müthiş bir oyunculuk, gayet tatmin eden hikaye ve keyifli diyaloglarıyla(bol küfürlü) son zamanlarda izlediğim en iyi yapımlardan biri oldu. Sadece metaforik bir final istemezdim.

I love it! An intricate, mysterious and mind-enhancing trip.

This is one of the best psychological thrillers I've ever watched. The vision, use of music and sound, editing and most of all, perfection of dialogue. Creating tension step by step with characters that are so unpredictable that anything can happen at any moment! The turn, into supernatural was so natural that even the characters ignore that and kept going like everything was normal! If this movie was made in the u.s. the world was still talking about it...

Remake of Gemide? With a more allegorical attitude to Turkish politics Ivy is a decent drama, yet it lacks the necessary subtlety and inventiveness to be radically different than its predecessor. What does Cenk's eventual takeover of the power mean? Isn't Ismail the ruler of today's Turkey as he manipulates Cenk (Turkish multitude)? To what does Cenk exactly refer? I think Karacelik doesn't know either. Also, paranoia and ivy come too late to set a sustainable mood and atmosphere.

It's so very good for so very long I just wish there was a more satisfying conclusion.

A very tense psychological thriller with allegorical Turkey portrait. I felt trapped inside this ship, only a Well written, well directed and well acted movie can do that! The ending could be more satisfactory though.

Effective psychological thriller is another in the LORD OF THE FLIES mould – a great showcase for some fine performances (especially Alkas as the group manager), and the claustrophobic cabin fever of the ship is well captured, even if the place looks a little too clean and underused as the stalemate wears on; an abrupt shift into the supernatural in the final act is a right-turn from nowhere, and the ambiguous conclusion lacks a punch that would have improved the overall impact.

well written suspense story filmed in a transport ship...

Güzel konu, güzel metaforlar. İyi film ama çok daha iyi olabilecek malzeme varmış. Keşke daha iyi işlenseymiş.

ikinci izleyiş> kurgunun rahatsız edici aksaklık hissiyle beraber memleketin yıllardır değişmeyen ses problemi dışında kamera önü ve arkasıyla hayranlık uyandırıcı bir iş. politik yönünün ortada olmasına rağmen göze parmak olmaması, bu noktada ağzından salya saçmayan cümleleri, çıkarılabilecek neredeyse tek sekansının olmamasıyla son yılların en iyi yerli filmi.

A great, tense psychological thriller with well-used ambiguity and splendid acting

Alfa kisisi nedir? İktidar kimdir? Ya da buranin agasi misin lan? gibi soruların ele alindigi sert mi sert tokat gibi bir film. Nadir Saribacak sen nasil bir insansin? Tolga Karacelik sen ne sahane is cikarmissin? Irvine Welsh bile "mikkemmel" demis bu filme. Efendim siz filmi izleyip sonuna bok atanlara bakmayin. Tek kare, tek sahne, tek replik dahi tartisilamaz bu film icin. Oyle iyi film hakkettigi yerdedir. Palme d'or Cannes da gorseydi off aman yarabbi olacakti.

Great performances by the cast and a very accomplished work of atmosphere.

started out good, but lost me toward the end

İzlediğim en iyi türk filmlerinden biri oldu. Çok güçlü politik bir tavır sergilemişler hem de yüzümüze çarpmadan.
