While the documentarians are not above throwing around a bit of gossip and tattle in the course of what amounts to demonisation, it's clear that the politician at whom aim is being taken represents the very worst aspects of a political system so mired in media-hype, the stupidest forms of populism, and money, that it can no longer be called democracy and can barely be considered politics, the demos and the polis having been replaced by audiences and the performativity of marketing, respectively.

Long after the door shut on Palin's political ambitions, and the rest of us moved on, Broomfield goes back to make sure that it will remain securely locked. And that's, you know, nice and all.

With little money and a lot of scrappiness, as usual, Broomfield infiltrates his subject's remarkably effective facade to navigate her apocalyptic religious beliefs, stories of her vindictiveness and her connections to the Koch Brothers, Rupert Murdoch and the Tea Party, straight from the horse's mouth, that horse being her own family, friends and colleagues, many of whom having been alienated and defamed as a matter of routine on the Alaska evangelical's way up the latter.

This is quite interesting because it gives an image of the person that is Sarah Palin, that I was mostly unfamiliar with. It only makes it even scarier that she could have been vice president of the United States. This film could have been shorter though, after about half the documentary you get the point and no real new things happen.

Nothing more than a 90 minute smear piece, sloppily put together and filmed, but it couldn't happen to a more deserving figure.

Interesting and very entertaining, although it's pretty one sided. Still nice to see how people in her home town are so against her. Damn, scary lady

Excellent, blatantly subjective documentary which does an effective job of taking a hatchet to Palin and her multitude of supporters. While some of Broomfield's interview subjects are at times questionable, he does succeed in delving behind Palin's public image (though the running narrative of attempting to secure an interview with Palin feels like a rehash of some of his earlier work). As usual for Broomfield, a very fine and clever utilisation of archival footage.
