Paul Thomas is an ex-cop who happened to be the sole survivor of a mass cult suicide in Wyoming. He returns to his home town of Santa Fe in order to put his life back together. However, soon he realizes that his ex-wife is sucked into new-age philosophies. Trying to save his daughter from the cults, he finds self-help guru Eleanor who happens to be a very attractive woman.

Bonkers comedy born from the '90s cult craze, with a game Gary Cole as a cop with a comparative religion degree and a weakness for charismatic leaders, perhaps a holdover from an obsessive childhood (he can remember right where he was when Kennedy was assassinated...in the library, reading about when Lincoln was assassinated). Reminded me of no less than MIAMI BLUES, but really peters out in the second half despite more fine work from Lolita Davodivich, Pamela Reed, and the gifted Tina Majorino.
