Santa Buddies

A grueling spectacle of rancid vileness.

Sometimes I really think that there should be a ban on Christmas movies; we have a few good ones, and if it is so necessary we can watch them over and over; it is better than all this trash that wastes resources, human energy, and in this case dog also, and steals time from unwitting parents.

Easily the worst of the Buddies movies. And the Buddies movies are no treasure. The plot makes no sense. The effects are worthless. Christopher Lloyd is the best feature, but he doesn't really shine either cause of a horrible script.

Oh god, so bad, so, so bad. The special effects are a goddamn disgrace - even the exterior shot of Santa's shop, which is inexplicably used about 100 times in the film despite the fact that it looks like a 5th grader threw it together in about half an hour. Why Christopher Lloyd is in this I'll never know, but he is to some extent worthwhile and easily the best part of this terrible spectacle.

Stop it.

If you like puppies and Christmas, this is the film for you. If you specifically like the Buddies you will be disappointed because they don't feature as prominently in this film as they should. The writer/directors are moving on from the Buddies with the next film being about Santa Paws so, like Air Buddies which moved from Air Bud to the Buddies, this is the end. It is tragic that the Buddies come to such an ignominious end. I will weep for you, Rosebud, Mudbud, B-Dawg, Bud-dah, Budderball.
