Road movie feels semi-inspired by the second act of AS GOOD AS IT GETS in a darker vein; the seeds of an interesting film are here, but we know so little about the two emotionally disturbed male leads that it is hard to fully empathise (or understand) their plights; full kudos has to go to Cook, who has even less to work with yet delivers a quietly powerful (and radiant) performance. Violent climax is a disorienting misstep, and leaves too many unanswered questions as the curtains come down.
