Last week I watched Laugier's films in reverse chronological order. This was his first, and weakest. From reading a half dozen reviews, it seems I'm not alone in being unable to make sense of the plot. It seemed a conventional concoction of ghost-y cliches. The dead are sort of threatening but also not. That sort of thing. Ledoyen is very pretty, and I guess does what she can with a role that is either incoherent or else challenging in an avant-garde project I am just not appreciating.

Overly vague and confusing with narratives that seem to clash and possibly contradict each other.

I really can't treat this film as a narrative. To me, it's art, swirling around you and defying what one expects in a story. It is really beautifully shot and the environments are almost alive. I really enjoyed it on that level.

Underrated, creepy supernatural thriller.

The atmosphere of this flick is stunning, Virginie Ledoyen in leading role shines and the place is just marv. Story grows nicely, but Pascal cannot build in the end a decent story. Movie lacks with a good ending, what realy happened. Good sceneries does not build a good story. Shame. Movie was so promising. The end is actually okay, but the plot itself stays kind of empty. So what.
