Keep your friends close and your Super Bowl Halftime performers closer. Ends with a Foals song I saw the band perform in a tiny club while the singer was being body passed around the crowd and I'd like to think that Justin Timberlake has never heard it.

Can Timberlake act? Wait, wait, can Affleck act? Or, can they pick flicks with a decent script? Do I care? No. Do you?

it was alright at least for a popcorn movie night a good choice..!!!

If you have seen the trailer for this movie you can avoid watching the actual film. This movie does not have any real surprises. The actors do the best they can with the script. This is not a terrible film but it offers nothing new. I would not recommend this movie.

It's generic but relatively interesting. Just a movie to pass an hour and a half, where I'll never talk about it again. I like Timberlakr and Afleck though.

This film will have audiences running from the theaters. Seriously though, I don't know what the hell this is. It's terrible. There's no reason to care about any of it. There's no idea behind it. It's one of those films that comes off as if its made by people who have only vaguely heard second hand what a film is. Strange to think this is from the director of Lincoln Lawyer, which was decent.

So lame that I didn't even care when all of a sudden Justin's character, a student gambler turned professional gambler, arranges an amazing plot to frame Affleck's lousy villain and flies away with a hottie leaving Mackie's with a flash drive filled with everything he needs to mantain Ivan imprisoned for the rest of his life. You just can't forgive such a move -- and that's too bad because Furman's Costa Rica looked at least nice and enjoyable. More booze would've really helped the writers.

It's watchable fluff, mostly; a fun enough story laden down with expository dialogue, unnecessary triple-bluffing and one of Affleck's weakest performances

Runner Runner is harmlessly watchable, but there's no doubting how incredibly ordinary it is. There's not a single original idea in this film and it just feels like a jumbled up series of recognizable and predictable events. I've never particularly liked Justin Timberlake acting, but he's tolerable. But just when things where looking up for Ben Affleck's career, I'm surprised he settled for this. The majority hated this film, but I didn't mind it too much. I'll certainly forget about it though.

Criticker was right. I give this one a 0.

This film exposes the dark seedy crime filled world of Online Casinos. You know, where gangsters sit quietly and do QA testing on the next software revision and wise guys argue about the best way to implement load balancing. The dank server rooms filled with hookers and neat wiring. No? Not buying into the idea that there is any underbelly to Online Casinos? Well you better! How will you suspend your disbelief if you don't think it is a world of savage beatings, government payoffs and murder?

bad bad bad

Ben Affleck plays a really good asshole. In this thriller, you are never sure when he will throttle JT or kill a guy by feeding him to a hungry animal. Timberlake, whom I usually like, was never quite sure if he should be an ivy leaguer or a rough and tumble guy. You respect Affleck's at the beginning of the movie, but as the movie carries on you hate him more and more. The story of the movie was okay. I'm sure I'll forget all about it in a few weeks, but it was fun for a night.

Sure, it's a bit run-of-the-mill and predictable, but does everything pretty well so it's not all bad. Passes the time.

Runner Runner is a soulless and lifeless thriller that's so boring I almost couldn't muster up the energy to say more than "it's worse than watching paint dry" -- instead, I did this clever subversion while also still getting to use the paint drying comparison. It has good actors underutilized, a decent premise completely wasted, and it's been paced far too fast to allow for any sort of suspense to build. Even Costa Rica went to waste. There are better films with similar premises. Watch those.

The story here could have been interesting. In the hands of another writer, director and perhaps cast.

I thought the movie was good and running an internet poker company is a tough business and the ending was good.

Despite the redundant name, this movie wasn't terrible. I've been seeing that it has been getting some major hate and of course I looked at what other people said and it has poisoned this review. When I watched this I thought it was high 70's material. Now, I'm wondering if I missed the picture. Sure Affleck is pretty unbelievable as a bad guy. I usually love Timberlake...

Tries to be one of those fast-paced frenetic movies of a man caught up in a high stakes financial whirlwind with the camera spinning around him... but fails at it.

4- might want to skip this one, not that hot :: nothing new here, feels like I've seen this before...

Everything but the last 5 minutes were already in the trailer. Everything around it was really boring.

Easily could have been better. Honestly not much about this film feels like a thriller because it frankly just wasn't thrilling in anyway. Some decent acting from some good actors didn't help the situation much and this film just fell apart mid way through the second act. Absolutely no substance beyond the fact you know these actors are capable of much better, and for that Runner Runner is at least quasi-entertaining on some level. Watch it, don't expect much from it and move on.

Someone come late to the summer flick party.

There are things in this movie that I really appreciate, like the two male leads who I both like, and I'm a poker fan so that's some surface appreciation right there, not to mention the fact that the story felt lived-in and familiar due to the similar nature between it and the movie "21" which I enjoyed. But let's face it folks, this movie wasn't the greatest. The ultimate conflict resolution was way too convenient, alongside a plethora of unresolved plot points. It gets an uncomfortable pass.

While there are a few appealingly filmed Costa Rican sunsets on display, this flick hold no promise of a moral message.

Has you glued to the edge of your seat for expecting something awesome to happen, then disappoints you with a boring series of outcomes each a few levels below what you saw coming a mile away.
