The film is about a loser who does not know what he wants with his life, he dumped his fiancee at the altar a few years ago, and now changes his mind, so when he sees his ex with a better guy one himself, so decides he decided to change his life.
It is a small lovely Comedy about a man who may be better than what he seems .. I recognize myself in him.

A funny little jaunt down some uncharted cinematic territory. I'm not going to say this movie is true to form or amazing in any way, but it's charming and relatively funny. There are a lot worse movies to see out there.

Watched it in honor of running my 1st Marathon in a week. In that respect the movie is a total insult, he trains himself to run 26.2 miles in 3 weeks? Idiocy, it has taken me 4.5 months. This also plays into his supposed desire to show commitment to something, apparently being committed to the marathon for 3 weeks is enough. They could have played up that commitment with a realistic training timeline. The rest is sweet, predictable, and somewhat funny. Don't expect too much. Also, not fat.

It's nearly bad enough to make one stop believing in Simon Pegg. It's not the disappointment of seeing him play a sadly familiar layout Brit, or that the plot revolving around his character's attempt to win back a lost love by participating in a London marathon is hopelessly insipid. It's that Pegg's name is right there in the screenwriting credits, giving him unavoidable responsibility for all the fart jokes and other childish nonsense found between the opening title and the closing credits.

Even an average score like 59 is probably more than this movie really deserves. Yet for all its flaws, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't charmed by it. Schwimmer is surprisingly deft in the director's chair, and his direction, coupled with great chemistry in the cast, redeems this rather predictable script. Pegg and Moran are an indelible pairing, and are the only reason that Pegg's loser can be seen as a sympathetic character. The movie's nothing special, but its heart is in the right place.

It has several very likable moments but despite Simon Pegg trying his best there's a dearth of any real gut laughs here. Expect a conventional Brit romcom meets Rocky, not a "Simon Pegg movie." Also, I actually agreed with the "antagonists" of the film - you don't get to abandon your pregnant fiance at the altar and then complain when she gets a new boyfriend five years later.

Unfortunately I recognized myself in Dennis a bit too much... It's not a great movie by any means and the plot is a bit too predictable, but Simon Pegg does a decent job at being the 'loser' who wants to get his girl friend back and steps out of the shit hole that his life has become. I wish I could do that.

It's pretty much a connect-the-dots script from start to finish. There are, however, enough funny gags to keep this from becoming a completely mediocre movie. The entire cast is very good and really help bring the film above the level of it's average script.

Rating this higher than it deserves cause I like Simon Pegg a lot. Overall its a mediocre script with standard gags, but he really does have such a good comedic presence that it ends up working when you wouldn't expect it to. There's a lot of slapstick, but I found myself laughing at most of it. A bit too "motivational" and not funny enough in the third act, but hey, its forgivable. Also, she's only in like 3 scenes, but the landlord's daughter is ridiculously hot.

Schwimmer using his directorial debut to show a well developed understanding of British comedy? Ok! – would fit perfectly on a double bill with any scrappy Brit underdog movie; while it can’t transcend the peaks of THE FULL MONTY, it gets closer than expected, especially in Pegg’s rumpled loser, and a deep bench of fine British comedy actors in support. Never surrenders to sentimental cliché in Pegg and Newton’s relationship, though Azaria’s ultimate comeuppance feels a little too contrived.

Weighted down by tired tropes and silly subplots, RUN FATBOY RUN barely gets out of the blocks without feeling largely inessential. It's especially disappointing given the talent involved, particularly writer Michael Ian Black and writer/star Simon Pegg. They are certainly capable of much better than this uninspired retread of early 21st century comedies where slackerdom slightly mitigated constitutes a rousing triumph.

Friends star David Schwimmer's first directorial effort is, oddly enough, a quirky, sentimental, British, About a Boy-ish movie revolving around a grown man trying to "grow up" by signing up for a task he has no business attempting. Lots of laughs and some genuinely sweet moments ensue, especially between Dennis and Jake (and, to a lesser extent, Dennis and Libby). In the end, Dennis demonstrates that he's begun to learn some significant lessons about not running from the things that scare him.

Run Fatboy Run is funny, but also extremely predictable. That doesn't matter too much though, because the journey is what is important. Pegg and Moran are quite funny, although their brand of humor didn't always mesh with Schwimmer's directing style. It's a funny film, but not one that necessarily requires viewing. It's a decent film to watch if time is in need of wasting, but not one that you will ultimately remember or care about.

Though not all that special, it stands out as being a pretty decent effort, considering it's Schwimmer's (best known as a sitcom actor) first go behind the camera. Gets a better-than-passing grade from me as it serves a more appropriate introduction of Dylan Moran to American audiences than Shaun, since it shows him playing the type of role he specializes in (the surly but charming layabout, rather than the grating yuppie he played in Wright's film).
