Royal Deceit

The period accurate attempt and changes in how the story is told are interesting, but it suffers from a lot of blandness in the filming and the acting from some. The unpleasant parts drag on too long. Made in 1994, but sometimes it seems to be a kitsch 70s' movie instead

Bale, Byrne and Mirren doing a more historically accurate Hamlet? Why isn't this more well known? Well, it's a useful demonstration of how no matter how good an actor is, their performances are only as good as what the script and director allows them. The film is comical when it should be dramatic, dull when it should be thrilling, extremely clumsily edited, with a looong and pointless subplot in England, and thinks throwing knives are the most fearsome weapon ever invented. Too bad.

Underwhelming in almost every aspect. Impressive cast list though.
