One of their worst, I still can't help but like it a little.

R.S is one of the least regarded Marx Brothers' films and it's largely due to it being an adaptation of material not written for them, in addition to being too restricted in terms of its general staging, which was a big step down after their lavish MGM productions containing multiple dynamic locations. The action is limited to a hotel room, and it lacks the frenetic pacing of their Universal films to get away with such a skeletal setting. There are several funny moments but no classic ones.

Takes so long to pick up that by the time it finally does, there's nothing The Marx Brothers can do to save this from failure. I have been frequently disappointed by The Marx Brothers, especially since they're held in such high regard.

Not a single laugh. Very sad, the low water-mark for the Marxes.

Too much Frank Albertson and not enough Lucille ball or Marx Brothers in full flight (although the turkey certainly is!). Albertson as Leo Davis had me thinking of Michael Chiklis as Steve the party host in the Seinfeld episode 'The Stranded'. Not as good as the remake 'Step Lively' starring Frank Sinatra.

The worst of all Marx Brothers movies. Not sure why they would have done this.

Has a couple funny moments, but this isn't where the Marx Bros shine.

Probable the least funny Marx Brothers film of the 1930s. Mostly due to it not being original Marx Bros material. Only later adopted for them, compared to their other films which was writing taken from their own stage shows. Frank Albertson gets thrown in as the straight guy/schmock and almost becomes the center of everything as the brothers are toned down here. Donald MacBride as the hotel manager does get some good moments, inclduing the catchphrase of the movie - "Jumping butterballs!"

Full review to come later, but definitely the worst movie of theirs that I've seen.

Not the worst of the Marx films, but pretty close. A one room play isn't necessarily a bad direction to go for pure comedy, but for an act as big and as fast as the Marx Bros. it's stifling. And what the hell was Lucille Ball doing? Who decided she should be the foil? It was disconcerting to see her chomping at the bit in a straight role. There was enough funny to make it not suck, but only enough to make it not suck.

This film was adapted from a stage play not designed for the Marx Brothers, and it shows. The three often seem out of place in their roles, and the whole thing feels slow-paced and dreary.
