Rome Armed to the Teeth

There was a time when a man wore a mustache to let other men know that he was more manly than they were, and miraculously he could back it up. This is a movie about a mustache that will work his way through any and all criminals in his way. There's a scene where he's basically rolling off a woman and already talking business again.

Another stylish Poliziotteschi from Lenzi. I'm rating this lower based purely on the values espoused by this film, which are probably no more contemptible than in other of his films, but here its foregrounded to such an extent that I really couldn't enjoy it. Basically a diatribe against things like leniency for criminals based on a traumatic background, and advocates greater use of police violence. To justify this Lenzi subjects us to a brutal gang rape and other exploitative scenes. Hmmm.

An Italian Dirty Harry/French Connection that has a frantic pace and enough action to keep one entertained. Cheesy and goofy at times yet has enough style to make up for things. Stache rating is a 9/10.

Maurizio Merli is a Dirty Harry-esque though cop in this entertaining action-packed poliziotteschi from Lenzi. The biggest setback is the very episodic plot;, Merli seems to stumble on a crime being committed by a random criminal every time he turns a corner. But that he wastes no time to kick that random criminal's ass keeps the pace up.

Hyper-energetic italo crime film from Umberto Lenzi. Maurizio Merli's detective Tanzi seems to be one step away from busting a nerve as he is constantly shouting, banging heads and chasing criminals down the streets of Rome. Actually, he doesn't even need to chase them - he seems to stumble on them on his way to a grocery store. Entertaining film but a bit confusing and lacking in substance to be considered one of genre's finest.

Tomas Milian as Quasimodo = good fun. The rest, unremarkable.

One of the more energetic italian police-movies. Great fun.
