'life of pi' for people who've grown out of their colouring books.

Viewed May 28, 2021. Cinema as a manifestation of the afterlife. Filmed images, daydreams and memories coalesce into an acute feeling of longing, for lost loved ones and for the different paths that life could have taken. Increasingly, Johnnie To's romances seem to me like his most interesting films - this is a funny and offbeat comedy, a deeply felt romantic melodrama, and a typically poignant portrait of the way our lives are impacted by the images we consume and that always surround us.
