A huge surprise, so funny that I have to see it again to enjoy the other half of jokes I was laughing too hard to hear. It's a formula movie, but it's backed by a strong (and unabashedly R-rated) script, and great chemistry between Rudd and Scott. I'd liken it to Wedding Crashers in that regard, but this one never overstays its welcome. It's like what Daddy Day Care could have been if Eddie Murphy still had balls. Jane Lynch is hysterical. A must-see for anyone who appreciates a good KISS joke.

If the only things I knew about this movie were a) a synopsis and b)Stiffler would be playing a large role in it, I wouldn't even bother. But Paul Rudd and David Wain's involvement intrigued me, and I was mildly surprised to see them succeed. First, as always, Rudd makes everything better just by being in it. Secondly, the bit characters are all drawn fairly well, especially Jane Lynch as the ultimate "BSer"-she was great. Finally, the ending found the right balance between ridiculous and sweet.

As I get older, I've started to like this movie less and less. The 12 year old me thought this was amazing, but 6 years later I find a lot of it to be subpar. Rudd is always great, however you get the feeling that Scott just plays the same recurring character. The relationships are actually pretty solid between the adults and kids, and they're some funny moments, but you begin to realize it's kind of one big setup and some jokes feel out to place and repetitive. Solid, but has flaws.

Ridiculously stupid in every way but had me laughing out loud on many occasions and successfully incoporates a few endearing moments. Rudd is very amusing and William-Scott typically off the wall but its the kids who steal the show. The film manages to be amusingly crude and quite touching at the same time without ever going too far in either direction. Thoroughly daft but enjoyable in equal measure.

This movie relied pretty heavily on bawdy humor, but it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed Paul Rudd and Jane Lynch. Also -- if I didn't recognize Joe Lo Truglio, I would have thought he was actually one of those guys who do the medieval role playing in real life. All in all, not bad for what it is. Funnier than I expected. The film has a lot of heart and a lot of quirkiness. It makes sense that is stars Paul Rudd. Rudd has been floating between the Apatow crew and the Wain/State/Stella crew for years. Now, with Role Models, I think Rudd was able to bring the Apatow sentimentality and the Wain surrealism to make one funny flick. Also, Bobb'e J. Thompson is one EXTREMELY funny kid.

Role Models never seems to really get going. The material isn't necessarily weak, it's just a little light. Lazy, even. Worth a cursory glance if you're a fan of the recent wave of Apatowian R-rated comedies.

Role Models is the essential, ultimate and gut-bustling Comedy of 08. Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd are great together on-screen, and the kids really steal the show. Just crammed with loads of laugh-out load moments and some sweet, soft, tear-jerking scenes. At its core, Role Models is more than just a modern-day, slapstick happy-go-lucky Comedy, but a highly dense Drama. Great movie that is sure to be in my top 10 list of this year.

Formulaic man-boy w/ heart of gold comedy, but far funnier than typical Sandler fare, having more in common with Apatow's best. Acting-wise, Rudd is great as usual &Jane Lynch hysterical. Scott does a nice-guy variation on his Stifler role but like the movie, it's funny&changed just enough to make the difference. Contrived at times (e.g. Scott at camp) & a little too much desperate-for-laughs profanity but the last act builds to so many witty takes on the typical happy ending all is forgiven.

"Role Models" is okay. Paul Rudd actually is fantastic, Elizabeth Banks always welcome, Jane Lynch doing what she does best, and Sean W. Scott doing what he usually does anyway. The plot is forgivable and a great setup for our two main characters (Scott, Rudd), but I guess I only wanted the movie to be a tad funnier. There's some great dialogue here, but overall, it just barely missed the mark for me in the laughs tally. It's got heart, it just feels a little too light.

Bland throwback to the sort of family films seasoned comics used to do back in the 80s and 90s has scattered laughs here and there, but awkward moments of mild raunch don't work because they don't go far enough and seem incongruous beside the tamer material - leaving the uncomfortable feeling of being told a dirty joke by someone who doesn't like dirty jokes! Rudd and Scott make an ok comedy pairing, and Lynch is fun in support but even she is hobbled by the weirdly shifting tonal problems.

Still holds up well since the last time I saw it in theatres when I was 16. SWS is great in this as a lovable douche and obvs Rudd works as a lovable douche (in a different way). A bit of Wains weird sensibility and comedy is evident which gives this movie a little extra something.

Top badass moment? Discovering that drinking too many energy drinks makes you the size of an ant. This is a fun film from a more innocent time, (before energy drinks were basically a Class A drug and banned for kids because the Government knows best). Also, Augie’s girlfriend had eyes bigger than Alita Battle Angel. Finally, I should disclose that I used to play RPGs, still have a room full of Traveller materials and went LARPing before it even had a name. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A surprisingly successful comedy whose humor is character based and situational rather than just random and crass for its own sake--although there is plenty of that!--Role Models has more depth than most comedies of its type, and it's unfortunate that it plays second fiddle to The Hangover, which has less of an emotional payoff. Rudd stands out as a sardonic malcontent who hates his life, and the diversely aged cast mesh well. You'll also never hear Love Gun in quite the same way again.

Unlike Sandler's stupid flicks, this is good, not just because of its amusing buddy/father and son material -- we hear rape, dick and sex jokes, but they seem as strong as any advice or guy-to-guy talk --, but for its confidence in bringing together adult and kids/teen experiences. When Wain goes for the winner -- you know, the whole we-screwed-up-so-let's-fix-this stuff and final kiss/kids scoring with the girl --, it looks a bit phony and too grounded on, well, models (?). But that's ok, too.

Formulaic Hollywood comedy that sticks to the same predictable gags as every other film of its type. Improves slightly towards the end with the LARP battle managing to raise a few smiles, but other than that it's the same safe, comfort zone comedy that's been done a dozen times before. Also, energy drinks promotions in schools? There's no way that can be legal.

Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott costar in this tame Judd Apatow style comedy about two adults sentenced to community service as role models for two socially lacking youths. The film has its moments with some pretty decent laughs at the expense of Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Ken Jeong, leading to a pretty stellar third act. However, most of the movie is by the numbers with a lot of typecasting that shows the lack of range for every person involved in the movie sans Jane Lynch.

"Trash" is just about the best word I can use to sum up Role Models. It just felt dirty to me, mostly stemming from the fact that most of its humor was derived from the profanity-laden child within it. I wasn't entertained, I wasn't laughing, and I ended up being sick of almost every character within it. If only there was a real sword battle, where if a character was hit, they'd actually lose a limb. That would've been cool.
