Rok 1863

What takes me back to the Year 1863 is heartfelt acting. The story is on the slow side and one feel like there isn't too much to tell for a nearly 2 hour film, but the people in it are clear and leave little doubt as to what they feel. This is a Polish film which was remade twice as Wierna rzeka in 1936 and 1987, so it's clear Stefan Zeromski novel has some standing in Polish culture. This original silent film which is carried purely by it's actors.
