Rogues of Sherwood Forest

This film has some of the cartoonish aesthetic of the Errol Flynn film. It makes a novel choice in its setting: the generation AFTER the Robin Hood of legend. The film still has a listless, anticlimactic pace. Everybody looks tired and in it only for the money.

A Robin Hood story that was nearly stripped of personality. I do love adventures like this, so naturally I did manage to find some enjoyment with what was going on here, but this was clearly not the greatest of attempts. Sadly it was the final time we get to see Alan Hale, as he would pass away before the film was released. His third and final time as Little John, having played him in two absolute classics before. Unfortunately, this was no classic.
