Rogue of the Rio Grande

The sort of Western that can barely afford the horses, saddled with the kind of uniquely stilted delivery you only see in the very earliest of talkies. At least it's light-hearted. Most time is devoted to José Bohr being your standard-issue Mexican Robin Hood of the range, though the main attraction at this point is the novelty of Myrna Loy singing about the Argentine tango after the light operetta manner.

Crappy western that is slightly saved by being a comedy and having Myrna Loy, even if only for a couple bad song and dance numbers.

It's funny watching Myrna Loy early in her sound career. Working for smaller studios and not yet found the personality that would make her one of the most sort after female actresses of the 1930s. Here she is a singing señorita! And boy, was that awkward! This plays out like a normal B-western of the 1930s poverty row flavor. Not very good or interesting, but within it's limits it's, and it has a lot of limits, it manages to be mildly entertaining thanks to José Bohr as the outlaw!
