The best thing here is the relative restraint regarding what is shown to the viewer early on. This helps maintain a decent level of tension following on from the charming scenery. Sadly that restraint gives way to standard horror ridiculousness toward the finish. Worthington is decent, but otherwise the characters are rather bland. Vartan is especially vacant, having all the presence of a manila envelope.

Dropping the other characters in the final act was a weasely move. They just go *poof*, disposable as they are. I hate it when writers do this.

Very strong giant animal movie. McLean seems to have properly utilized some of the elements used to great effect in Jaws. Unfortunately, no giant animal movie can touch Jaws.

Pretty standard b-movie fare. Good build-up, sloppy final act, random performances (yes, Vartan was hopeless).

"The best flick of its kind since Lewis Teague's drive-in classic Alligator. And that was 1980."

Poorly written: None of the characters seemed consistent, and motivations were subsequently impossible. The hero is fleeing the final conflict and little stumbles back into it therefore deciding to save the days since he's "dropped" in. The script probably wouldn't get more than a C in writer's class.

I had read few good reviews for this movie but I can't really figure out how anyone can think this is a good movie. Plot is boring, characters are idiots and there is no tension.

Missed this one about 15 years ago. Killer crocodile in Australian Outback terrorizes a stranded group of tourists. Well done!

For a modern b-flick about a giant croc (let's face it: not an original concept), this was surprisingly good. The lack of practical effects is frustrating though - there were plenty of opportunities for creativity here that would have worked on a low budget, but they opted for digital makeup even on some basic, low light shots where the beast is stationary or barely moving. That slow zoom into Vartan's puppy dog face at the end is hilarious. Poor, sad, mopey, quadruple agent Vaughan.

Everyone you hate lives. Everyone you like dies. It's not fun. There's no gore. It's an absolutely pointless movie.

Decent Croc movie that wasn't extreme or really all that graphic. The biggest failing of this film was that the Croc lacked personality which kept the menace to a minimum.

Reviewers who deemed this trashy or silly and compared it unfavorably to Jaws are clearly on auto-pilot. McLean is one of very few serious writer-directors working in the horror genre, and "Rogue" is head and shoulders above popcorn creature fare, in terms of allowing suspension of disbelief, and therefore the degrees of suspense and horror achieved. Not only is it better than the stupendously overrated Jaws, I'd also deem it more evolved than Tobe Hooper's "Eaten Alive" - a likelier ancestor.

Silly giant killer croc fare much along the lines of Lake Placid. Not as funny though, although it builds up the suspense well at first and shows potential in the opening half. Loses a lot after the attacks begin, and had failed to hold my squiffy attention by the end.

Not the best killer croc movie out there, but at least not the worst either. Just generally toothless.

Ok, this movie was barely saved by the gorgeous Radha Mitchell and by Sam Wothington who played a memorable cocky australian. Michael Vartan was the reluctant milk toast hero. Most of the other acting brought the movie down. At least the plot was somewhat plausible, except the ending was unimaginative and cheap. Overall worth watching but don't expect anything great.

mildly interesting story about a group of tourists in the Top End straying into a biiiiig croc's territory. Nothing we haven't seen before, but fairly well done, with some nice shots of the landscape up there. It's not Jaws.......but it's not bad

Mclean's latest starts off strong with some beautiful cinematography (by Will Gibson) admiring the Australian outbacks, but soon after the first blow delves deep into the realms of b-class creature features. The final battle between the hero (100% charisma-free Michael Bore Vartan) is just silly. Too bad, Wolf Creek showed Mclean to have huge potential in him. Hope to see some of that soon!
