Robot Overlords

Independence Day on a Doctor Who budget. Sadly lacking almost everything that made Grabbers so much fun.

Robot Overlords is a mixed bag. Its British setting and mild sensibility gives it a fresh feel, and the cast do well in their roles. Unfortunately, the film suffers from uneven pacing, a silly premise and a poor plot. As a result, the film constantly switches between moderately interesting and relatively cringeworthy, which may work for a Doctor Who episode, but I'm not sure it holds up for a feature film.

It's B but not in an entertaining way.

even a strong cast couldn't fully salvage this movie which ends up being more unbelievable camp than science fiction.

I struggled to rate this movie. The cast and characters do a good job and I think the movie makers did a great job building effects on a limited budget... although at $21 million, it was nothing to sneeze at. But I thought the plot made little sense... someone called it Independence Day... it is so full of plot holes... there are moments you want to love it, but it's a bit too silly.

Apparently, the difference between a British family sci-fi flick and, say, an American one is some sh*ts, t*ts, and a fair number of b*ll*cks.

Feels really short, the film is over before you have time to get into the world its set in. On the plus side it doesn't overstay its welcome. It's never boring and has some interesting elements. I'd check it out, but Grabbers was a lot more charming and fun.

unwatchable

Decent flick, has good flow to keep one entertained. The effects are ok, the acting is ok, and that's about it.
