Robin and the 7 Hoods

So um... Well, instead of critiquing anything I'll just say that having the Rat Pack together with Bing Crosby was good fun. Singing and dancing aside, though, for me Peter Falk stole the show.

There is some cheesy charm to it, but overall it's pretty forgettable.

I liked it when Sammy and Falk exchanged eyes

Entertaining Rat Pack romp is a Robin Hood story set in 1930s gangster land. It features good music by Nelson Riddle and songs like the Oscar-nominated "My Kind of Town" and "Style" by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn. Bing Crosby makes the most of his supporting role as a bookish orphanage director who helps the gang with their public image. The best of the Rat Pack movies.

I suppose a musical gangster take on Robin Hood starring the Rat Pack (minus a couple of members) seems like an okay idea, but it's not well realized. The idea of just using the Robin Hood characters names is ... puzzling ... resulting in head scratchers like Falk's Italian mobster being named "Guy Gisborne". It's especially odd when the movie reveals that everyone knows who Robin Hood is, yet nobody thinks it's a weird coincidence that they all have the same names as these characters.
