It takes over an hour to get to the RobinHooding, which is way too long, but otherwise it's a pretty fun film and that first hour has its share of good moments, even if they lack excitement. I also felt the leads lacked charisma, I didn't buy Fairbanks as Robin Hood and much less Bennett as the object of anyone's lustful affection.

Totally harmless, but it just bored the hell out of me.

A long build-up but a more complete story of Robin Hood. It drags here and there but once they let Fairbanks loose his charisma takes over and pulls you in completely.

I'm sorry, I love Fairbanks, but the chintzy beer hall piano music just killed it for me. Very hard to watch.

Best ever silent swashbuckling.

Though the film takes far too long handling the Huntingdon backstory, once Robin Hood leaps on screen this story takes off. The last hour is broad, robust fun with colossal sets and a funny, charismatic (and probably absurd) performance from Fairbanks.

Charming and spectacular swashbuckling adventure with fabulous production, crystal clear narrative and a good old fashioned naive vibe. The story is a hilariously simplistic fable but has a pretty flawless execution that successfully transports you out of everything mundane. The actors follow that internal logic pretty well and the colossal sets & kinetic action are a joy to behold. Contrast between the talky set-up of the 1st half and non-stop action of the 2nd is a bit striking.

It pains me to say this, since this was absolutely unseeable for years; I know, 'cause I looked for it for years. In theory it was released on VHS at some point, but back in those pre-Amazon pre-Netflix days it couldn't be found for love or money. Now I have finally had a chance to see it, and it's really quite seriously dull. It's not even very well made; there's a scene where Huntingdon/Robin is having some kind of beer mug arm-wrestling match with some guy that has a blatant continuity error

The sets are awesome. Unfortunately it's a bit long and dull and mostly failed to drag me in. Acting and writing are not that great, either.

Impressive staging and creation of setting. Plot works, easy to watch and at times the acting is visually pleasing. However, the first parts are a bit tiring.

First half is dead, then it hits the Fairbanks swashbuckling gear and all is nice in silent movie world. Sets were unbelievable.

Big, sunny spectacle in the usual Fairbanks style. The gigantic sets and crowds really liven things up.

Literally spends more time embarking on the crusades than robbing from the rich or giving to the poor. This has so little to do with the legend that in the final act they had to title specifically who the Sheriff of Nottingham was before being dispatched since audiences wouldn't even remember his face they'd seen him so little. Fairbanks rarely swashbuckles and even in the finale plays more the role of damsel in distress! It's baffling what this "Robin Hood" film decides to focus on.

This was a fun spectacle with Douglas Fairbanks doing a great job as always. The scenery, backdrops and sets all look good the stunts were impressive but man oh man was this movie too long.
