With the various films about Louis Pasteur that came out in the 30s, it was only a matter of time before Germany came out with a similar styled movie about their own pioneering microbiologist Robert Koch. The great Emil Jannings portrays the medical genius glamorizing his work and not caring much for what was sacrificed. This biographical movie is well made, but remains fairly dry in it celebration of a great man.
