It's actually very funny. Every time Conor McGregor was on screen he was all but belting out 🎵Now I've had the time of my liiife🎵 - and damned if I wasn't singing along. It's very silly and, though the sound effects occasionally don't line up, impressively brutal, too. Light laughs and heavy hits; mindless fun!

One is an anomaly. Two is an unsettling mystery. What kind of drug was in play when someone convinced someone else that 'Road House' needed a remake? I don't need to watch either one again, but I'll take any YouTube deep dive into why this remake happened. No. It's not enough. This topic needs scientific funding.

It would be impossible to defend this as anything other than stupid fun. Jake is just bombing around as a guy with a dark past who knows he's tougher than everybody, which isn't a criticism. Even Conor is fun as a psycho tough guy, and I don't like Conor anymore, so props. The action is crunchy and silliness is plastered all over everything, but I had a buncha fun.

I did not expect to like this movie but i have to say it blew my mind and was extremely funny in several parts. I went from at first questioning Jake Gyllenhaal's judgement and sanity for signing on to a movie like this, to loving his performance and bonding with his character. Same goes for Conor McGregor.

I guess it can be appreciated once a person comes to term with the fact it is not really a remake of the Road House movie. It goes very different directions. Not new places, but places. The fights were interesting, even if some between extras were ridiculous. I don't know about Conor McGregor as a person, but his character was funny. Always half naked, stumping around with one liners, stealing cars, and beating up anyone, not listening to anyone, absurd, he was like a GTA player character

Victim of being a remake. Not terrible, but I might have enjoyed it more without the expectations set by the original, which is by no means a great movie but has a charm to it and is a cult classic for a reason. This movie is just kind of there, and might have been enjoyable enough but I kept noticing things I was missing from the original--the simplicity, the Sam Elliot character, the camp--and it made the experience worse. Gyllenhaal is quite good but much of the supporting cast is middling.

I liked this for the same reason I liked Crank and Shoot 'Em Up. Accept the ridiculous premise (and abandon any expectation or preconception you have from the original movie) and just sit back and enjoy the insanity and action. The camera was steady enough and not too close to the action. I could follow along with what was happening in the fight scenes. I never felt nauseated. The lead good guys were likeable (especially Gyllenhaal), and the story didn't outstay its welcome.

Watched the og last night and it although it was better this does have some decent moments. Gyllenhaal is absolutely slumming it here, but has fun with it and elevates what could have been a far worse production. I enjoyed some aspects of the fight scenes, but wasn't digging the strange CGI videogame mode they went into at times. As a McGregor fan on his come up in the UFC it was fun to see him make his debut. He played the psycho baddie pretty well all things considered. Fun, b movie 6.4.

Max buffed out Gyllenhaal straight out of a steroid resort hits it out of the park with his usual mental patient energy and some sick brutish fighting moves. As a bad knokfilm this is as awesome as it gets if you ask me, but it took me 15m to realize that it was actually good. What a riot, we were going wild! Would watch again.

Pretty cool and energetic fight scenes; not much else to recommend in the story around those fight scenes (in fact much of the acting aside from Jakey G comes off as rather amateurish). But the fight scenes are clearly the main focus so that isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world.

Popcorn filmi. Filmin sonunda, Road House'da kavga. En iyi tekne, arkadaşının teknesi.

BARFIGHT! Yeah I think we can safely just take this at face level and have fun. There's a story but it only kinda matters. The lightning-quick rush to the premise and clunky fight scenes I think are offset by Gyllenhaal's undeniable charisma. I just really like watching that dude work. There's a lot of scenery-chewing going on here, especially by Conor, and if we aren't telegraphing a sequel, the mid-credits scene is just masturbatory, but this is undeniably fun while being unspectacular.

Think Reacher the show with a Fast and Furious budget. The first scene is Post Malone as a bare knuckle underground fighter. You know it's gonna be turn off your brain and enjoy the ride. Conor McGregor is a natural at playing a stupid belligerent asshole, wonder why. Never saw the original.

Good first act, kinda ok, building suspense for the 2nd act but with lots of missed opportunities for characters. And last, the final act, the last 40 minutes of the movie is a shit show. It tries to address the cliches of the genre, act too hard and "self-aware" but in the end becomes another cliche silly movie. Modern Western-style "Old Soldier/Fighter Saving the town and saving the girl" trope is not a new thing but why do you keep addressing what kinda of movie you're?

Let's get one thing out of the way: McGregor is almost as terrible a performer as he is a person, and his scenes would have been improved tenfold had his role gone to one of the innumerable heavies who can actually act (imagine Tom Hardy in his place!). That said, this is just about as decent as you can make a somewhat self-aware remake of a beloved oeuvre de schlock, thanks in no small part to an unwarrantedly charming and off-kilter performance by Gyllenhaal.

Road House doesn't add anything new to the remake, but it does update the same silly macho energy that original had with a new cast and move the plot to the Florida Keys instead of a small Missouri town. It's all really, really stupid, but there are some good action scenes, a great soundtrack (every time there's a bar fight, there's always a band playing the entire time), and everyone involved seems to be enjoying themselves. As mindless Friday night entertainment, I guess it works.

The 2024 "Road House" remake, directed by Doug Liman and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, tries to recapture the original's spirit but falls short. Despite impressive fight scenes and Gyllenhaal's dedication, it lacks the original's charm and emotional depth, feeling more like a high-budget action flick without a soul.

I know a lot of people have a soft spot for the original but I very much do not. I was intrigued to see if they were going to do anything interesting this remake. They don’t. But, I did like it more than the original I guess, bar some egregious CGI and the almost unwatchable McGregor, who is not just chewing the scenery, but more actively fucking in the arse!

Stylish and tries to be fun and over the top, but it didn't quite work for me. The cheesiness of the original will make it a more enjoyable watch but it's not necessarily actually a better movie.

Conor McGregor has good screen presence. There are also a few jokes with the nice guy element. But if you've seen the trailer, you've seen the movie. Fairly generic action that occasionally tries to be a bit more. Incidentally some of the fist fights have bad effects / cgi.

Gyllenhaal is okay but the rest of this is awful. Just awful. The story's dumb, the action is chaotically filmed and the editing is out of control. And don't even get me started on the 'performance' of Conor McGregor. Liman fighting for this to be in theaters is a joke - he's lucky the finished product ever saw the light of day. If it were up to me it would have been buried in a vault somewhere

You get exactly what is expected and this movie is a fun watch for it. Gyllenhaal is in top form both physically and as an actor playing a role. It was the grounded scenes that allow you to believe in the over the top action and premise. The chemistry with Melchior and the others helped provide that real world feel amidst the set pieces and fight sequences. It is a romp from beginning to end and the kind of movie you can sit back and enjoy while shutting off the world around you. A good time.

There are so many contradictory decisions here, it’s a surprise that they made a (barely) watchable film. Something that would have been utterly enjoyable popcorn movie turns into a bunch of commercials stitched into one big dumb commercial for digital cinematography tools

Trades the original's sleaze for grittiness, but in the process ends up losing a lot of its personality and homeliness that benefitted the first film. Jake at least has more of a personality than Swayze did, but his character has zero chemistry with anyone and the supporting cast is substantially worse. Though I still rate this movie higher because its climatic fight scenes are a lot more gratifyingly brutal and McGregor's hammy attempts at acting makes him a more convincing and fun villain.

Pretty much survives on Gyllenhaal's humor and charm alone, everything else about it is pretty bad. Too over the top to take seriously, but played a bit too straight to fully embrace being an off-the-rails wild ride.

Liman's distinctive shooting/editing of fight scenes & action is always lively, although the CGI he seems to be using to make it look like people are actually being punched in the face gets into uncanny valley territory. John Wick style, highly choreographed fights are still my preference, but it does give this film alot of flash & style. Story-wise it's also better than the original since at least Gyllenhall isn't playing an ostensible philosopher type who's only as deep as a Fortune Cookie.

The Greggor/Gyllenhall fight scenes are way too Hollywood, but I was alright with the rest of them. I kinda liked this not-too serrious film about the Stranger on a hero's journey. Don't remember the original, and this was a little forgetable. Kinda fun though. Watched at 1.25x.
