LaChapelle is an exceptionally talented pop-art photographer. His eye for a film camera is just as impressive. It fits well with the "clownin" or "krumping" style of the movie. If you like great cinematography and are impressed by dancing, I recommend it.

I'm sort of flabbergasted that this isn't actually a mockumentary.

The film was overall kind of disorganized, but truly amazing dancing and views into people's lives.

Whether or not you buy that dancing has been the single saving grace keeping L.A. kids from street gangs, this well-shot feature-length music video keeps the party going and contains a lot of inspiring stories. Seeing some of the same nameless dancers over and over again gets a little old, but this is still one of the most notable documentaries of 2005.
