Light-weight but thoroughly engaging portrait of Moreno that provides a broad (perhaps too broad) overview of a trailblazing life still keeping on – perhaps a lack of film scholars means that the more serious attempts to contextualise her career against rigid discrimination in Golden Age Hollywood come off too laudatory and shallow, and dragging in elements of the #MeToo movement seem unfocused and gratuitous, but the film emerges a winner as long as it's focussed on its dynamic leading lady.
