Ripley Under Ground

Threads to the (far superior) novel are strenuous at best, Pepper is entirely miscast as Ripley, walking around with a dumbfounded expression muttering vowel sounds. Appropriately, his Ripley does not get by on intelligence, but on incredible luck.

Ripley Under Ground is based on Patricia Highsmith's novel of the same name, the second of five in the Tom Ripley series of books. The mood is light and playful, with splashes of almost accidental violence, and Pepper's Tom Ripley doesn't seem as dangerous as Hopper's, Damon's or Malkovich's, but I enjoyed the fresh interpretation. Worth a watch if you're a fan of the character.
