Indifferent... What to do instead: Either download the Angry Birds Rio app on your smarrrtphone cause its funnier and then you have something to do when you're taking a dump or: Watch Zack Snyder's epic owl movie, which is way cooler! If you wanna go all in and watch the greatest bird movie ever made, you have to go danish and see Fuglekrigen i Kanøfleskoven! All three options are better than wasting your time on Rio!

Well what saves this movie from being completely terrible is a fantastic score by John Powell, some pretty shots of Rio de Janeiro and a few jokes above par. Get the soundtrack instead - that is WITHOUT the horrible Will.I.Am. songs. That man should get banned from animation.

Colorful indeed, but you know something is wrong when a Will.i.am song is the most memorable part. And hey, for a film set in Rio during the carneval there's way too few hot chicks.

This movie is a testament to the fact that you don't need to cram a record amount of money into detail to make a movie enjoyable, nor do you need to lower the quality of your film just to keep the children focused. It was vibrant, steadily entertaining, and had very inspiring music without any painful running gags or unnecessary fart jokes.

Mostly good animations and cute characters. Rio is a blue Macaw who is afraid to fly. Many equally funny and awkward scenes. The story is cute and the voices were good, but I was not impressed with the bad parrot or monkey characters. Jesse Eisenberg and Tracy Morgan would not have been my first choices. I liked Anne Hathaway as the female Macaw. Entertaining for parents and children.

A few cute and mildly humorous scenes. Rio is not the place to set a kid's movie, though, and birds just don't make likeable cartoon characters unless they happen to be a duck or named Foghorn. Leslie Mann's character at the end of the film, though... biggest takeaway is that I'd fucking hit that nerdy ass, cartoon and all.

Cliché filled, but well made animation movie about a blue parrot being out of his element in his motherland. Rio's weak point is of course the story which is as predictable as it gets. But the characters, apart from the "cool" ones, are likable. The evil bird and his song number was what stood out the most for me. One of the better musical numbers in a modern animation movie. Blu himself, especially before he went to Rio, was also a winning creature. So overall a good experience.

Lightweight and generic animated effort is at its heart a fairly simplistic and glib kiddie oriented film, which means it tends towards overly loud and obnoxious, but is endearing enough if you understand what the creative team are going for. Spirited voice work by a fun cast helps (with Clement’s campy cockatoo standing out, owing more than a bit to Jeremy Irons), and the animation is nicely rendered. Otherwise a little too derivative of more ambitious Pixar/Dreamworks efforts to be memorable.

Blu is a rare Macaw parrot that was caught in the Rio jungle. Thanks to smugglers, he ended up in Minnesota, where he was found and has been cared for by Linda for 15 years now. The two are inseparable. One day, a professor visits Linda to ask if she and Blu are going to Rio to save his race; Blu is the last male of his kind. In Rio, things don't exactly go as planned and Blu embarks on an adventure, along with his fellow Jewel and other new friends.

While not reaching the heights of the best of Pixar or Dreamworks Animated films I found this to be a fun watch. While the musical numbers were quite weak, I thought the animation was colorful and well done and I enjoyed the slapstick humor sprinkled throughout. The story itself was pretty middle of the road and had none of the depth the best animated films manage to bring to the table. In closing I feel that kids will enjoy this and parents may find some mild enjoyment with this film.

Unlike many animation films recently this one is aimed directly at children. The characters, story and colour pallete used will definitely keep there attention for 90 minutes. Visually this film looks stunning and I genually thought there were some very funny moments. Im not usually a fan of the slap stick approach to comedy but I thought it really worked and im sure this will get a laugh out of the children who watch. This is no Toy Story but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these characters.

I watched a lot of animations lately and this one was the most enjoyable. The music was infused into the fabric of the story so there wasn't the awkwardness of standard animation operettes. The characters were funky and there were great one-liners here and there.

The action is too frenetic, the songs are too gimmicky, the characters are too one-dimensional, the bulldog is too gross, and the animation (though at times very impressive) is too colorful. I can understand why these things would appeal to some (particularly small children), but this very much isn't my thing. I enjoyed the flamboyantly gay evil cockatoo, though.

Even having Jesse Eisenberg and Jemaine Clement on the voice cast wasn't enough to make Rio remotely funny. It's a beautiful movie, but animation and settings can only take you so far when your film is completely paint by numbers and predictable.

Extraordinarily well-animated, solid music, and good story. Once in a while it throws in a moment or two that's too silly and kiddie-oriented, but it does manage to pull it back. The ending feels a little whitewashed, but it was entertaining, enjoyable, and didn't have any major plot holes. ...And may I add (as a silly note), it's nice to see that Zoey from the Proud Family went on to a major role in an animated feature as Linda.

Fairly standard fare. Has some good bits, has some bad bits, isn't terrible... Meh. Eisenberg is fine, Hathaway is not born to be voice talent, Jemaine Clement is hit and miss and Leslie Mann, whom I love in live action, has a timing which doesn't really work in animation. And the reason I'm just listing the voice cast now is because there's not much more to talk about. More Lionel Richie would've been nice.

Well this was formulaic. The plot, the characters, the jokes, everything is as generic as it possibly could be. The computer animation is also pretty cheap-looking. Jemaine Clement's voice acting brings some life to the evil cockatoo who is the film's antagonist. I guess this works as a decent entertainment for kids, but for adults this has next to nothing to offer.

The last male blue macaw is taken to his birthplace to mate and try to save his species. Ecology is one of many serious issues mentioned in the movie: vast slums, abandoned children, gangs, animal traffickers. Mentioned, not detailed. The fact is that Rio was born to be a fun, colorful comedy made for kids. But that can be watched with pleasure by adults who agree to relax and have fun with the simple and moving story, funny characters, good music and stunning 3D stereoscopic images.

I really liked this animated film. When it first started I was skeptical on it's quality. The animation isn't nearly as strong as what Dreamworks or Pixar puts out since it is produced by 20th Century Fox but what it lacks in graphical prowess it does a great job of just being a fun and cute movie. I loved almost all the characters, even Tracy Morgan's character (an actor I don't like). The movie was bright and cheery and very colorful with fun music. Anne Hathaway was fantastic.

Oh wow! This was bad beyond anything I was expecting! I can only point to the animation as any sort of positive. The voice acting is just awful, with none of the voices suiting the characters. The script even for a kids movie, is awkward, unimaginative & offensively stupid, particuarly when compared to similar movies. The songs are rubbish, & the whole thing is packed full of crappy stereotypes as if Blue Sky were deliberately trying to emulate DreamWorks at their worst. Painfully terrible.
