Rio 2

Kinda pretty much the same sorta shit as the first one. Not especially offensive for grown-ups, and there are far lazier animated efforts out there, but if you're over ten, you really probably shouldn't be in the theater.

better than the first but still really terrible

This is one of those super cringy movies that manages to still be watchable. I always regret watching these and I always promise not to put myself through another trash watch but then I find myself writing another review like this.

As absolutely heinous as the first.

Rich with good music. The story is mostly cute, and the animation is well done. Some the the jungle dance was a bit much, but overall entertaining. There is something for all ages.

It's got a plot you've seen a few dozen times before, characters that aren't in the least bit interesting, annoying songs, and very little to like outside of the visuals -- and even then, the animation isn't anything special. Rio 2 is worse than the first one.

Entertainment: 2.5/4 -- it was far less entertaining than Rio 1 that we didn't even make it past the first 20 minutes. Spirit: 0.5/3. Sustainability: 1.5/3.

Garbagio!

I didn't really care for Rio 1 and I still didn't really care for Rio 2. I have the feeling that I've seen every single part of this film and it annoyed me the entire movie. There's nothing special, nothing really worth mentioning or remebering. You have some laughs and an entertaining 1,5 hours and then you'll forget everything that isn't worth remembering, being every aspect of this film.

Pretty entertaining and cute. There are more than enough colors to make it at least peripherally worthwhile.

Hopefully the Olympics go better than Rio 2's story. The biggest disappointment of this film was the way it took a fun film from before and made it about leaving the city and joining the flock (birds of a feather, stick together) and of course taking down those evil tree-cutting guys. The whole story was a ripoff of Ferngully or Avatar. I did like some of the musical numbers, everyone had a great singing voice, and the evil Shakespearean Parrot was so funny...

Feels generic and like a cliché. Looks all right and the musical elements works, but not very engaging.

it was nice and also the message really cute so we already lived this stuation last year in istanbul its called gezi park protest to me its similar. and as animation already it was too quality

The finale is kind of ok, or maybe I'd just been beaten down by the preceding mediocrity that it looked better by comparison. Not horrible but nothing here makes it worth watching either.

Yeah, pretty much the same as the first Rio (2011) except now they are living in Rio as family. The freshness is replaced with familiarness. The animation is still top notch and the story is again as predictable as it gets. As the money men would say; "It's a formula that works". Ka-ching! And for the viewer it's a enjoyable piece of mainstream pop culture where the music is an important part in keeping it alive and nothing is annoying enough to ruin it. The Shakespearean Nigel steals it again!

Similar in overall quality to the last film, but somehow less engaging.

This has to go down in history as the point where cartoon reached Wacky Side-character Singularity. I counted at least ten before my brain gave up and decided to started crunching what the scientific term for a badger was, in an effort to do something slightly more productive. No I'm not looking it up, that would be admitting defeat.

Avatar 2 sure took an unexpected turn, and not really for the better. I preferred Pandora to the Amazon. Back to the drawing board, James!

A not so subtle environmentalist bit of propaganda for the kids, complete with evil capitalists. I'm sure the irony of protecting the animals who think and act like humans, even to making war, will be lost on most adults. You know they're serious because what little humor they tried was lame. Story is dull with one bright spot, the toxic frog. Who knew Chenoweth had a beautiful operatic quality voice.

really funny

That makes this a nice little suet cake that really starts to taste good once it hits its musical theater stride. It praises family, friendship and love, along with positive life-building traits like responsibility and bird-brained determination. So I guess you could say that Rio 2 manages to save the rainforest without ever raining too hard on your family's moviegoing parade. (pluggedin.com)

It's a good sequal. If you liked the original, I don't see why you wouldn't like this, unless you are in junior high now.

Cute and very pretty, Rio 2 skews a tad too childish in its too-frequent musical sequences, but largely redeems itself with solid comedy, a cute story, and lush, bountiful animation.
