I like parts, but not other parts. I don't know if it's coincidence, but it feels like Mulvey borrows a hell of a lot more than she doesn't, and I mean overt stylistic appropriations rather than inspiration. Akerman and Bruce Conner are two examples.

Trying challange the linear stroytelling and subject-object relations of the male logic, the film offers a circular and centerless narration which culminates its search into an experimental expression at the end. But still, even though it has such challanging qualities, it is extremely didactic and academic. I love my feminist & protest movies when they deconstruct the convention from within, with the selfconfidence and arrogance of an insider. Instead this film has the pride of a teacher.
