Rice Girl

A generic but watchable Italian romantic drama about a young woman caught between her employee, his son, and a mechanic, one whose wide shots of women working in rice paddy fields compensates for its uninspired nature. Sadly I still have to remove a point from it for having such an emotionally weak titular character; even if I bear in mind when the film was made and the purpose of having her act this way, actress Elsa Martinelli's numerous emotional breakdowns feel forced and questionable.
