One of those Czar-era romances. Based on Lev Tolstoy's novel that there are a ton of movie adaptations of from all around the world. This felt like one of the worst ones I've seen. Hell, I even liked the D.W. Griffith version from 1909 better than this early talkie. Not even Lupe Velez being there helped make it a decent watch.
